Job Title: Civil Engineering Technician / Site Engineer Location: [Specify Location] Reports to: Senior Civil Engineer / Project Manager Job Summary: The Civil Engineering Technician or Site Engineer, with a diploma in Civil Engineering, is responsible for supporting the planning, design, and execution of construction projects. The position requires a combination of technical knowledge, hands-on work, and collaboration with project teams to complete civil engineering projects on time and within budget. Key Responsibilities: Project Execution and Site Supervision Assist in setting out, leveling, and surveying the site as per project plans and drawings. Supervise daily construction activities to ensure they align with the project’s designs and specifications. Ensure that all construction work complies with safety regulations and quality standards. Quality Control and Assurance Inspect materials and work quality to ensure they meet project standards and specifications. Perform tests on construction materials (such as concrete, soil, and steel) to confirm their suitability and quality. Monitor and document any deviations from the plans, notifying senior engineers for corrective actions. Project Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate daily reports of site activities, including work progress, materials used, and any issues encountered. Assist in preparing project documentation, such as blueprints, construction drawings, and reports for supervisors and clients. Track and document all on-site modifications or adjustments to original plans. Resource and Material Management Coordinate the delivery and usage of materials and equipment, ensuring their timely availability and optimal utilization. Manage inventory and keep track of construction supplies, alerting supervisors to any shortages or delays. Assist in maintaining a clean and organized worksite. Health and Safety Compliance Enforce health and safety protocols on-site, ensuring that all workers adhere to safety regulations and practices. Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments, taking immediate action to address potential hazards. Ensure that personal protective equipment (PPE) is properly used by all personnel. Technical Support and Problem Solving Provide technical support to the construction team, offering guidance on construction techniques, equipment, and materials. Assist in resolving on-site issues and unexpected challenges, consulting with senior engineers as needed. Monitor and adjust techniques to improve efficiency and quality, implementing best practices in civil engineering. Surveying and Measurement Perform surveying tasks such as measuring distances, calculating elevations, and establishing reference points. Use surveying equipment (total station, level, GPS) to collect accurate site measurements for engineering purposes. Qualifications: Education: Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification. Experience: 0-3 years of experience in civil engineering projects, preferably in construction, infrastructure, or related fields. Technical Skills: Familiarity with civil engineering concepts, construction practices, and quality standards. Software Skills: Basic proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word), and project management tools. Knowledge of surveying software (if applicable) is an advantage.
